Photo shoot for kallos cometics.  We enjoyed the challenging task to create “beauty” shots that depart from the norm yet still serve the intended advertising purposes for the LOVE product range. Les Formes du Mal

Les Formes du Mal

Representing the state of dreaming and wakefulness blurred together by grabbing the topic of metamorphosis told in a short story was our concept for this video. Just like in a nightmare, the fears of the “I” appear in different forms of horror figures depicted in movie stills, but transplanted into the genre of fashion video. Read the rest of this entry »

The Six Deadly Sins of Mrs Herskin

The Six Deadly Sins of Mrs Herskin

The six masks embody Mrs Herskin’s private sins and innermost agonies, showing what they’d rather hide: motivations of her actions, her feelings and left-handedness – the real side. Her expressions are highly symbolic and personal, going deep down, uncovering her personal feelings and attitude, not only by emotions like sadness, happiness or anger, but expressing them without common visual boundaries. Her sins (in order of appearance) : Passion. Defiance. Conscience. Desire. Sarcasm. Words unspoken. The video shaped itself with an utmost connection to the masks. Music, scenery, story, shooting and preparations altogether became the perfect context for this story of Mrs Herskin. Read the rest of this entry »

Paris

Paris… Great memories instantly came back from my years playing at Roland Garros. I am spending two weeks every month for the next 6 months in Paris working on a Fine Art project. During my first leg in Paris I got inspired to start a personal project using an odd combo.  Tmax 3200 developed in an unconventional paper developer printed on matt FB paper. The developer accentuates grain and gives a certain glow that no other film/developer combo can achieve.

Lili

Platinum/Palladium printing is definitely one of the most beautiful B&W printing techniques. This Pt/Pd image was contact printed in our lab on the very delicate translucent 100% rag Bienfang paper. It’s gorgeous, silky smooth, long tonal scale in the highlights are matchless by any other process.  Quite interestingly it’s exactly the opposite of the Wet Plate Collodion process my other B&W favorite where beauty is found mostly in the contrasty dark tones. It all depends on the subject and your vision but if it’s about the fragile highlights then Pt/Pd is the way to go.

Mrs. Herskin

The visuality of this photo series was inspired by the character of Mrs Herskin outfits and accessories. In the final images we wanted to reflect on the slightly surrealistic forms, deranged and chaotic surface plays as well as on the great efforts of the designers to elaborate every detail manually in an uncommon way. The background details derived from certain parts of Mrs. Herskin fashion accessories and the model wearing the current collection were printed on different textured materials and were made into a collage using manual tools and embroidery.

M4

M4 is an independent fashion editorial / fine-art photo series. These photographs combine an extraordinary location with one of the new 2011 Spring/Summer fashion trends. The raw, monochrome, gigantic beams of an underground construction site of the new M4 subway line in Budapest designed by sporaarchitects is counterpoised with the actual fashion trend of daring colors in a bold, somewhat futuristic but still very sensual way.

Specular Seduction

The Specular Seduction high fashion / fine art photo series adjoins the trends of independent magazines that favor elusive and intangible visuality over the realistic and elaborate depiction of the subject matter. This visual world provided the inspiration for making the video. Paradoxically, we transferred the long exposure technique that requires the model to stay motionless for a long time during the photo shoot to motion picture. Our goal was to preserve the translucent quality of the photographs but at the same time make the fashion footage more dynamic by the movement.

Alive

The Alive photo series dedicated to BMX Street and BMX Flatland riders records the peak moments of the riders in challenging action. Capturing these tricks – often made only once – with no opportunity for rehearsal require deliberate pre-visualization, quickly improvised lighting technique on location, and perfect timing to record the single moment where the actual movement becomes most spectacular. The whole series was made with a medium format Hasselblad 205FCC camera using slide film to pay tribute to the one time only approach of the riders where mistakes cannot happen without serious consequences.

AM Denmark “Keep your search private” Ad campaign

We accepted this assignment because we really liked the creative idea. Fairly straight forward product shot with the right amount of  lighting twist on the keyboard and tabletop to keep the overall mood natural but still guide the viewers eyes throughout the important parts of the image. A typical example where photography complements a creative idea and not vice versa.

Dreher “Annyi a világ amennyit beletöltesz” Ad campaign

Tamas Kiraly “A hölgy egy kissé bogaras”

Tamas Kiraly is an avant-garde fashion designer and cult figure with a truly unique style that has earned him appearances in Berlin, London, New York with the likes of Vivienne Westwood and other prominent designers. His creations – which in this case include the set design as well – are fully hand made, planned, selected and prepared all by himself in advance. The challenging lighting scenario of shiny black PVC dresses and black accessories in front of a black background was welcomed by the photographer to push the boundaries together with the designer.

Nanushka

The Nanushka photo series is a result of another cooperation with a well-known fashion designer. Each image records a motion sequence – capturing the beginning, the transitional and the end phase of a motion – achieved by the combined use of electronic flash, continuous lights, camera and subject motion during a single long exposure. The resulting images that are sharp, soft, frozen and in motion at the same time accentuate the playful but minimal attitude of the designs made visible by the uncompromising style of the photographer.

Manier

The Manier photo series was made using the 19th century Wet Plate Collodion photography process resulting in a unique set of 10 x 10 inch ambrotypes. Despite being very unusual in the world of fashion photography this complex “hand made” technique combined with the use of large format vintage Petzval lenses was chosen to match with the designer’s traditional hand made tailoring techniques.  The inimitable visual character of this photographic process is worth the list of challenges and extra effort that this technique demands from everyone involved. Venexiana

Venexiana is a brand created by NYC based fashion designer Kati Stern. The shooting took place in the prominent building of the Opera House in Budapest. For this photo series, to underline the graceful characteristics of the dresses and hinting the feeling of the 1920′s-40′s to the images large format Zeiss lenses from the time were used. To further emphasize the slightly romantic mood of that era the now very rare, 8×10 inch Polaroids were used in combination with a truckload of meticulously positioned movie flood lights illuminating the the neo-renaissance building interior. Red Bull “Street Parade”

We have been shooting assignments for Red Bull for a couple of years now. It’s always fun and challenging to be working in an environment where the adrenalin level is much higher then usual and where getting the right shot or not is determined in split-seconds. This shot was taken at the Red Bull “Street Parade” where Sebastian Vettel was driving his Formula 1 and Sebastien Buemi was driving an Indy race car.

Emese

The Custo photo series was taken at the Spring/Summer 2009 New York Fashion Week. The aim was to create images during a ‘live’ fashion show in a way that they overstep the marks of the usual “runway photographs”.
